Iran Earthquake: 165 Injured As 5.6-Magnitude Quake Hits Northwestern Area


TEHRAN: The variety of injured folks in a 5.6-magnitude earthquake that jolted northwestern Iran rose to 165, state media reported. The quake, which occurred close to Khoy county within the province of West Azarbaijan at 6:46 a.m. native time (0316 GMT), has a depth of 8 km, based on the Iranian Seismological Middle (IRSC), Iran`s official information company IRNA reported on Friday.

Of the 165 injured, 139 have been launched from medical centres after receiving first assist, whereas the remaining have been being handled, IRNA quoted Provincial Governor of West Azarbaijan Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian as saying.

Director Common of West Azarbaijan`s Housing Basis, Jafar Barzegar, instructed IRNA that 80 residential models in 10 villages in Salmas and Khoy counties have been broken within the quake, Xinhua information company reported.

In late January, a 5.9-magnitude earthquake in Khoy county killed three folks and injured greater than 800.
